If you live in Arizona and hear electric guitars, it might be activists Queenie Tsui and Sean Scherer, who are rockin it! They’ve organized four community screenings of our film, vegucating hundreds at screenings and thousands via TV as guests on the popular local TV show “The Morning Scramble” talking about the film and their work. With several standing-room only screenings under their belt, they show no signs of stopping and already have more screenings on the calendar, including one at ASU on October. 16th.
Queenie and Sean are co-organizers of Vegan Arizona and volunteer contributors of VegPhoenix.com, a community resource on veg-friendly dining and shopping in the Valley! This couple met during Hurricane Katrina animal relief efforts and have been together ever since. Queenie is an engineer and part-time student, and Sean is full-time at medical school. Both have been veg for almost 10 years. Vegucated is their favorite documentary, and the community has been super supportive of their monthly free screenings at venues around town such as bookstore, restaurant, and college campus.
Vegan Arizona and VegPhoenix.com were founded by a power couple who recently relocated, and the remaining members are struggling to keep the calendar packed with outreach activities such as leafleting and food giveaways, etc.! Feel free to join the Vegan Arizona Facebook Group to stay abreast of activities and resources.
